Closeup of a single sad wife after divorce lamenting holding the wedding ring in a house interior

Aisha Juma, a 35-year-old school teacher from Mombasa was going about her day-to-day routine when she decided to organize her family’s important documents. Amidst the papers, she found a birth certificate that didn’t belong to any of her three children. The document listed her husband, Ali Juma, as the father of a child she had no knowledge of.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes. I kept looking at the name, hoping it was a mistake. But there it was, clear as day—my husband’s name on a child’s birth certificate,” Aisha recounted, still visibly shaken by the discovery.

Distraught and confused, Aisha confronted Ali as soon as he returned home from work. At first, Ali tried to deny everything, but faced with the undeniable proof, he eventually confessed. He admitted to having an affair with a woman he met through work and fathering a child with her.

“I was devastated. We’ve been married for 12 years, and I trusted him completely. To find out he had another family was a nightmare,” Aisha said.

The Emotional Aftermath

The revelation sent Aisha into a whirlwind of emotions. She felt betrayed, angry, and heartbroken all at once. Their three children, aged 10, 8, and 5, were also affected by the sudden tension and uncertainty at home.

“I had to be strong for my children, but inside I was falling apart. I kept thinking about all the lies and deceit,” Aisha shared.

Seeking Support and Healing

Unable to handle the emotional turmoil alone, Aisha reached out to her close friends and family for support. They provided her with a listening ear and practical advice on how to move forward.

“I realized I couldn’t do this alone. My friends and family have been my rock during this difficult time. They’ve helped me see that I need to prioritize my well-being and that of my children,” Aisha acknowledged.
